What is water baptism?
At Edge Church we believe that water baptism is a symbol of salvation. It symbolises the internal change that has taken place for someone who now believes in Jesus and says they are a Christian. Nowhere does the Bible teach that salvation is dependent on water baptism. However, the Bible does say that each believer should be baptised in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.
Water baptism is the next step after being saved. It is a public statement of your belief in what Jesus has done for you and a commitment to follow Him. Baptism is for everyone who believes in Jesus and you don’t need to be a “perfect Christian” (if there ever was one!) to be baptised. This significant step is one of the things that God has given us so that we can understand how to live as a child of God and is an important part of our walk with Him.
More about signing up for a Baptismal service
Baptismal services take place on a Sunday. People who would like to be baptised need to sign up at the Info Desk after a Sunday service. There are two baptismal classes in the weeks leading up to the service and those who have signed up will be contacted with more details.
